Returns and Refunds Policy
Last updated: August 2026
This Policy explains how to cancel an order, return a product and get a refund from Techcel Shop. It applies to every order placed through this store and should be read together with our Terms and Conditions.
These are your rights in addition to, and never instead of, the rights the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 give you.
Cancelling before your order ships
You may cancel an unpaid order at any time — simply do not complete payment, and the stock we were holding is released automatically.
If you have paid but your order has not yet been dispatched, contact us immediately at sales@techcelshop.co.za. If we can stop it before it leaves, we will cancel it and refund you in full, including any delivery charge.
Your 7-day cooling-off right
Because you bought from us electronically, section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act gives you the right to cancel your purchase within 7 days of receiving the goods, without giving any reason and without penalty.
To use this right:
- tell us within 7 days of delivery that you are cancelling;
- return the goods to us complete and undamaged, in their original packaging, with all accessories, cables, manuals and free items included;
- the goods must be in a condition we can resell — a product that has been used beyond reasonable inspection, damaged, or is missing parts may not qualify.
We refund the price you paid for the goods within 30 days of the cancellation. You pay the cost of returning the goods to us, which is what the Act allows, unless the return is because the goods were faulty, damaged or not what you ordered — in which case we pay.
Damaged, incorrect or incomplete deliveries
Please check your parcel when it arrives. If a product arrives damaged, is not what you ordered, or is missing items, contact us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and photographs of the product and its packaging.
We arrange and pay for collection, and you choose a replacement or a full refund including delivery charges. You are never out of pocket for our mistake or for transit damage.
Faulty products and your warranty
Section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act gives you a 6-month right from delivery to return goods that are defective, unsafe, or do not do what they are meant to do. Within that period you choose whether we repair, replace, or refund — the choice is yours, not ours.
Most products also carry a manufacturer's warranty, shown on the product page, which usually runs longer than 6 months. After the first 6 months, a fault is handled under that warranty, which normally means repair or replacement by the manufacturer or its authorised repair agent.
A warranty does not cover:
- accidental damage, liquid damage, or damage from misuse, neglect or unauthorised repair;
- damage from power surges or from use outside the manufacturer's stated conditions;
- normal wear, consumables and batteries past their rated life;
- software problems, configuration, or data loss.
Back up your data before sending anything in for repair. Repairs and replacements often involve reformatting or replacing storage, and we cannot recover data from a returned device.
What we cannot take back
Some items cannot be returned once opened, unless they are faulty:
- software, digital licences and activation keys that have been revealed or activated;
- consumables such as ink, toner and thermal paper, once opened;
- products sealed for health or hygiene reasons — earphones, headsets and similar — once the seal is broken;
- products built, configured or ordered specially to your specification, which we cannot resell.
Nothing in this clause affects your rights under clause 4 if the item turns out to be defective.
How refunds are processed
Approved refunds are paid to the original payment method through our payment provider. We do not refund to a different card or account, and we do not pay refunds in cash.
Refunds are processed once we have received and inspected the returned goods, and typically reflect within 10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer. Refunds are made in South African Rand.
We do not charge a handling or restocking fee on a valid return. Where you cancel under clause 2 and we have already paid to deliver the goods to you, the original delivery charge is refunded only if the whole order is cancelled.
How to start a return
- Email sales@techcelshop.co.za or call +27 10 013 4858 with your order number, the item concerned, and what is wrong with it.
- Include photographs where the item is damaged or faulty — it usually saves a collection.
- We will confirm whether to return the item yourself or whether we are arranging collection, and give you a reference to include with the parcel.
- Pack the item securely, in its original packaging where you still have it. Items damaged in transit back to us because they were poorly packed may not qualify for a full refund.
You can find your order number under your orders.
